PS Charities is excited to announce the date for our 8th Annual Major Douglas A. Zembiec Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 in Quantico, VA.
Event Details
While volunteering for his fourth combat tour, Major Zembiec was killed by small arms fire while leading a raid in Baghdad on May 11, 2007. The “Lion of Fallujah” lies resting at Arlington National Cemetery. Major Zembiec’s bravery, his leadership and dedication to our Nation is well documented and highly revered.
PS Charities is assisting in building a custom, low mortgage home for one of our Nation’s wounded and disabled veterans in Northern Virginia. Proceeds raised from this tournament will assist PSC in building a home for Corporal Garrett Jones and his family.
Corporal Jones joined the Marine Corps in August 2005. Assigned to the 2nd Battalion 7th Marines infantry unit, he deployed to Iraq after 10 months of training. On the afternoon of July 23, 2007, with about two weeks of deployment left, an explosion detonated beneath his feet. The explosion resulted in the loss of both eardrums and his left leg. Corporal Jones also suffered severe shrapnel wounds to his arm. In April 2008, Corporal Jones once again deployed to Afghanistan, to support his unit. In 2009 Corporal Jones retired from the Marine Corps and in 2013 the Jones family moved to Dumfries, VA for a job at Quantico Marine Corps Base.
Please join us in honoring our Nation’s heroes by golfing, sponsoring or by making a donation for our raffle. Volunteer opportunities are also available for this event.
