RazorX2, a Northern Virginia government contractor, announced this week that they will host Rock Out for Vets. A benefit concert that aims to show gratitude for our local veterans at Jammin Java in Vienna, Virginia on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 7 PM. Tickets are $50 and available at jamminjava.com. Open bar and hors d'oeuvres are included in the ticket price from 7-10 PM. Gross proceeds will go to John Lyon VFW Post 3150.
United States veterans have made remarkable sacrifices to afford the rest of us our freedoms. RazorX2 feels a responsibility to support and honor those who have sacrificed for us when they return home. John Lyon VFW Post 3150 is a place for veterans of Arlington County, Virginia and the surrounding communities to call home. It offers them a place to meet other veterans, to contribute to the community, to honor each other through volunteerism, and to just unwind.
The Post residence is a nearly 100 year old building and is in great need of repair. The money raised will go primarily to the Post’s building fund. The top priority of this fund is to replace the building’s warping roof. The funds will also be used to support fallen veterans’ families and veterans who are out of work or under financial strain.
RazorX2 offers returning veterans an opportunity for reemployment. Currently, 21% of its employees are veterans. Sgt. Michael McCartney, a system integrator for RazorX2 and 2013/2014 Commander of the Post, inspired the company to get involved with the VFW. RazorX2’s president, Julie Pak, states “We witnessed his volunteerism, dedication, and patriotic values firsthand and knew we wanted to be a part of the wonderful example he set before us.” The company promises a night of gratitude, awareness, and most importantly fun! It’s the perfect way to celebrate and honor our veterans!
