Description

Join Steven Frost for this one-time workshop to learn how to warp and weave with a backstrap loom, a tool he often uses in his own work. During this workshop, participants will create their own woven work and take home a custom loom for future projects.

Event Details

Fiber and performance artist Steven Frost explores the way history and time are embedded in materials by combining yarn and other traditional weaving materials with ribbons, plastic beads, sequins, shredded t-shirts, and other salvaged goods in his Woven Compositions.

Backstrap looms are found all over the world from Japan to Central America and have been popular for centuries due to their simplicity of design and portability. In addition to teaching technique, Frost will discuss the history of the loom.
