Give back to our community at PaperMoon Springfield's 2nd Annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive! Hit the town to celebrate the season alongside our lovely ladies — and contribute to a very special cause. Together, we can spread holiday cheer.
Now through December 14, 2019, bring in a new, unwrapped toy or make a donation of $20 and you'll be entered to win a $500 cash prize at our party. The more times you donate, the greater your odds. Winner will be selected at our party, be here to win.
Without the generosity of the community, many children miss out on the magic of the holiday season. Approximately 52,640 (28 percent) of students who attend Fairfax County Public Schools qualify for free and reduced-price meals; 7 percent of students live below the poverty line, which is $24,000 annual income for a family of four. Their families may be on the brink of homelessness and have to choose between medical bills, heat, and food. These kids may be concerned with not having a meal they would otherwise get in school — a far cry from the celebrations and abundance that we associate with the holidays.
Toys for Tots, a 70-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to disadvantaged children during each Christmas holiday season. The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by the Marines offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime. It is such experiences that help children become responsible citizens and caring members of their community. Last year the Marine Corps fulfilled the holiday hopes and dreams of 7 million less fortunate children in 792 communities nationwide.
