The mission of the Alexandria Singers is to perform American popular music, to inspire new generations of singers, and to be recognized as a premier “pops” chorus that represents quality entertainment for all. "Hometown Proud!" The Alexandria Singers are a unique group. As the region's only adult pops chorus, our one-of-a-kind repertoire of American popular music offers the community an alternative to the sacred and classical music performed elsewhere. The citizens of Alexandria easily identify with the Singers because we're composed of men and women of all ages and backgrounds. We sing music the people know and grew up with. You name it, the Singers do it - Broadway, jazz, country, patriotic and pop. The Singers are proud to represent the City and its residents! Group History: The Alexandria Singers have come a long way since 1975 when they were founded by 16 Alexandria residents as "The Alexandria Community Singers." Currently, The Singers are the premier “pops” chorus in the Washington, DC area. By day, these 50 talented men and women, of all ages and backgrounds, make the Nation’s Capital hum in varied careers. On stage, they dazzle audiences performing various types of American popular music.
